a. National Youth Day
As declared by the Government of India, 12th January, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, is observed as the National Youth Day all over India. At Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong, it is not only Youth Day but also the day for computer and language training units. Hundreds of students use this opportunity to have a get-together and discuss ways to face the present challenges.

b. Foundation Day
Though there are several important dates in the almanac of Vivekananda Cultural Centre, 27th  April, the day Swami Vivekananda himself inaugurated the Quinton Hall in 1901, at the same spot where the Institute now stands, is considered the Foundation Day.
This day is observed with much gaiety through a variety of cultural shows, discussions, and feasting. Divided into several sessions according to different age groups audience, it is a unique programme of its kind in Shillong. Formal welcoming and farewell of Sanskriti and Drawing and Painting students also take place respectively on the nearest Sunday and Saturday of 27th April.

c. Cultural Competition
To encourage the inherent talents of children, various competitions like drawing and painting, recitation (in English, Khasi, Hindi, Nepali, Bengali, and Sanskrit), debate, essay, quiz etc. are organized for nursery to college-level students. These competitions take place during Saturdays and Sundays in July and August. About 3,000 competitors vie for the desired recognition in various categories every year.

d. Teachers’ Day
The tradition of honouring teachers on 5th September is actually undertaken by the students themselves. The Institute provides infrastructural support.

e. Children’s Day
It is a special day for all the children of Sanskriti and Drawing and Painting courses. They not only play and sing or go for merriment but also take a new resolve to become better children in the coming days. This day is observed on the nearest Sunday and Saturday of 14 November for Sanskriti and Drawing and Painting students respectively.
